Does the Easy IP solution bypass Starlink’s port blocking restrictions?
Yes. The Easy-IP uses a WireGuard VPN tunnel that connects directly from the SimRush Controller to your public IP address in our datacenter. All ports are open and unaffected by Starlink’s port blocking policies, giving you complete control over your traffic.
Can I set up reverse PTR (rDNS) records for my public IP?
Yes, we can configure reverse PTR records for your public IP address. This isn’t part of our standard setup, so a small administration charge applies for the engineering time required.
How do I configure Dual WAN with the Easy IP Controller?
The SimRush Easy-IP Controller supports Dual WAN connectivity with specific subnet requirements:
- LAN: 192.168.10.0/24
- AUX1 (ether1): Any DHCP-enabled IP range (e.g., Starlink’s 192.168.1.1/24 works fine)
- ODU1 (ether5): Must use 172.16.1.0/24 subnet
Important: Configure your second WAN router to use 172.16.1.1/24 as the gateway address before connecting it to the ODU1 port.
How does failover work with Dual WAN?
The public IP tunnel establishes through one WAN connection at a time:
- The first WAN link to connect becomes the primary path
- If the primary connection fails, the Controller automatically fails over to the secondary path
- Traffic from your Access Control List (ACL) routes via the public IP
- Other traffic can be load-balanced across both WAN links for efficiency
Can I use my own firewall (like WatchGuard) behind the Easy IP Controller?
Absolutely. You can connect your WatchGuard or other firewall behind the SimRush Controller. All traffic from your firewall will route through the public IP address.
Setup process:
- Connect your firewall device first
- Create a static DHCP reservation for it via NetPanel
- Edit the reservation and add it to the “SimRush-dst-NAT-Clients” Access Control List
- This forces all traffic from your firewall to use the public IP address
Find these settings in Firewall > Address List within NetPanel.
How do I configure inbound traffic and port forwarding?
Through the NetPanel management portal:
- Note your assigned public IP address from the Site Management Page
- Go to Firewall > NAT Rules
- Create your inbound NAT forwarding rules for all required ports (including port 22, SMTP, etc.)
What hardware specifications are available?
For high-traffic scenarios with many concurrent sessions, we can specify controllers with enhanced memory (512MB+). Contact our sales team with your specific requirements including:
- Number of WAN connections needed (2 initially, with future expansion)
- Required LAN ports (e.g., one for firewall, one for console access)
- Whether WiFi is needed (can be disabled if managing WiFi through your own firewall)
Does the system work with IPv4 and NAT?
Yes, the system uses NAT and works with IPv4. For Starlink connections, leave the Starlink router in default NAT mode.
