Multi-WAN Static IP Solution for UK Business Connectivity

The Challenge

A UK-based business needed a reliable connectivity solution that could deliver enterprise-grade performance without the complexity or cost of traditional enterprise systems.

Technical Needs:

  • A true UK static public IP address — not CGNAT, not a VPN workaround
  • Multi-WAN capability supporting Starlink, 4G/5G, and fibre connections
  • Automatic failover and load balancing between different WAN types
  • Inbound port forwarding for remote access to business-critical systems
  • Cloud-based remote management with no on-site technical expertise required
  • Plug-and-play deployment without VPS configuration or tunnel management

Business Needs:

  • UK-based provider with accessible, reliable support
  • Minimal ongoing technical overhead
  • Solution suitable for business-critical operations
  • Quick implementation without lengthy setup processes

Why existing options didn’t work:

The client had explored multiple alternatives, but each fell short:

  • VPN/VPS solutions (Tailscale, ZeroTier, OpenVPN) didn’t provide true public routable static IPs and complicated inbound access
  • Enterprise SD-WAN (Meraki, Cisco) was prohibitively expensive and overcomplicated for their needs
  • DIY router solutions (Peplink, Teltonika) still required third-party IP providers and complex configuration
  • ISP-specific services (AAISP L2TP) needed compatible hardware and significant technical setup

The business needed professionally managed, genuinely static and compatible with their mixed connectivity environment including Starlink.

The Solution

SimRush Easy IP with Multi-WAN Configuration provided everything the client needed in a single, integrated package.

What was deployed:

Hardware & Infrastructure

  • Plug-and-play SimRush router with multi-WAN inputs installed on-premises
  • Connections configured for Starlink, 4G/5G, and fibre
  • Zero complex configuration or technical setup required

Static IP Overlay Network

  • Traffic routed via UK-based SimRush infrastructure
  • Genuine UK static public IP address assigned (not dynamic, not CGNAT)
  • True public routable address suitable for hosting inbound services
  • IP address remains constant regardless of which WAN connection is active

Intelligent Multi-WAN Management

  • Automatic failover between Starlink, 4G/5G, and fibre
  • Load balancing capability across all connected WANs
  • Seamless transition during connection disruption
  • Static IP maintained through all connection changes

Cloud-Based Control

  • Complete remote management via NetPanel cloud portal
  • Inbound port forwarding configured through simple web interface
  • Real-time monitoring, usage statistics, and connection status
  • Remote reboot and configuration changes without site visits

UK-Based Support

  • Direct access to UK technical support team
  • Phone and email assistance included
  • No reliance on overseas support queues or ticket systems

How it works:

The SimRush router sits on-premises with all WAN connections (Starlink, 4G/5G, fibre) feeding into it. Traffic requiring the static IP is routed through SimRush’s UK data centre, which assigns and maintains the static public IP address. The system intelligently monitors all WAN connections and automatically switches between them if one fails, while maintaining the same static IP throughout. All management, port forwarding, and monitoring is handled remotely via the NetPanel cloud platform — no on-site technical visits required.

The Result

Operational Impact:

  • Reliable Static IP Access — Business-critical services now accessible via dependable UK static IP address
  • Connection Resilience — Three independent WAN types provide robust failover protection
  • Remote Management — Cloud-based control eliminates need for on-site technical visits
  • Reduced Vendor Dependency — No longer reliant on single connectivity provider
  • Professional Service Hosting — True static IP enables proper inbound service architecture
