The SimRush system has a dedicated port which is used for connecting into an existing connection – whether that be a regular xDSL / FTTx broadband, leased line, Satellite (e.g. Starlink, TooWay), Wireless ISP or 4G connection.
Please check the relevant Controller Quick Start Guide to check which port on the model of controller you have – Generally it would be Ethernet Port 1
This just needs to be plugged in and the Controller rebooted for it to detect the correct settings via DHCP from the alternative internet connection.
Load balance
By default out of the box configuration, The SimRush is configured in Load-Balance mode, so any additional connection that is added to the hardware on its correct ODU or AUX port means it will use it as a valid connection out to the internet.
ℹ️ Please note that if the second connection is slower than the 4G / 5G connection, any traffic using that path will see a drop in speed to match that path.
Failover
If you are wishing to have the second connection be used as a Failover connection, you’ll need to get in contact with us so we can configure this for you.
Once configured the SimRush will only use that connection if its primary path has failed.
e.g. If the Primary path is the 4G / 5G connection which is no longer working due to a failure, it’ll push traffic to the alternative connection.
⚠️ The SimRush Static IP which is an add-on service.
This will only use one single path at a time, it is not at present able to use multi-path connections through multiple internet connections which means it would only work in a failover stance.
If you are only using a few devices for the Public Static IP (e.g. an NVR for CCTV) only those devices would use that single path, all other connections not using the public path will use any other available connection – Unless other wise configured by Load balance or Failover
