Can I use Easy IP with my Packedge router while running Starlink in bypass mode?

While Easy IP works seamlessly with Packedge networking equipment, we recommend a different configuration for optimal performance with your Gen 3 Starlink.

Recommended Setup

Rather than running Starlink in bypass mode, we suggest taking advantage of the Gen 3’s dual ethernet ports:

  1. Take Starlink out of bypass mode – Return it to normal operating mode (192.168.1.x)
  2. Port 1: Connect your Packedge PK1 router – This continues handling all your existing network infrastructure (WiFi access points, switches, general traffic)
  3. Port 2: Connect Easy IP device – This creates a dedicated path for devices requiring static IP access

Network Architecture

  • Starlink network: 192.168.1.x (default)
  • Packedge network: Your current addressing scheme (e.g., 192.168.5.x)
  • Easy IP network: 192.168.10.x (for devices needing static IP)

Why This Configuration Works Better

This topology provides clean network separation with optimal routing, avoiding unnecessary complexity. For WiFi calling specifically (a common issue with Starlink’s CGNAT limitations), you would configure your mobile devices to use the Easy IP network path. This ensures traffic routes through the static public IP rather than through Starlink’s CGNAT, resolving connectivity issues.

The WiFi Calling Solution

Easy IP bypasses CGNAT completely by providing a dedicated static public IP address with full control over port forwarding and NAT traversal. This allows:

  • Proper SIP signaling for WiFi calling
  • Inbound connections from your mobile carrier’s servers
  • Consistent, high-quality voice communication experience

Your Packedge equipment continues managing your primary network exactly as it does now – Easy IP simply adds a parallel path for devices that need static IP functionality.
